Scottish Terrier dog looking cute

Fondly known as Scotties, these Scottish terriers are one of the most iconic and beloved breeds in history. Just like the Scotts, they have a distinctive beard, bushy eyebrows, and an unmistakable air of dignity. They have two coats to be able to withstand the harsh Scottish weather; a short wiry coat on the outside and a soft, dense undercoat. Scotties are some of the most loyal dogs out there. They are spirited, energetic, strong-willed and affectionate to humans.

If you have allergies, you’ll love these dogs because they are hypoallergenic. Scottish terriers are very intelligent dogs. So, despite their being independent-minded, they can be trained. They are dogs with a royal history. Several queens, kings, and U.S. Presidents have owned Scottish terriers in the past. The most famous ones are Queen Victoria and Franklin D. Roosevelt. Roosevelt’s Scottie, Fala, became almost as famous as the president himself and accompanied him everywhere.

The fact that there are 12 million dogs in U.K. households shows that they are a cherished part of many families here. Dogs provide companionship, joy, improved physical and mental health. However, the well-being of these beloved animals depends on how responsible the owner is and how much they understand and address their needs.

Despite the love and care that many dogs receive, there are significant welfare issues affecting dogs in the UK. One of the primary concerns is the rise in the number of dogs being abandoned or surrendered to shelters.

Every year, thousands of dogs find themselves without a home due to various reasons. Changes in their owners' circumstances, behavioural issues, and the lack of commitment from their owners are among the most common ones.

Battersea Dogs & Cats has partnered with us through Work For Good where we donate £0.20 of every sock sold from our cat & dog bamboo sock range. Battersea Dogs & Cats shares knowledge, provides training and grants funding to its global animal rescue partners. They have three animal rescue centers of their own and strive to improve the lives of cats, dogs and their owners. Ultimately, Battersea rehomes animals by placing them in loving homes where they can be cared for all their lives.

Our philosophy

Restoring the biodiversity of our planet and its varied species is at the core of Bare Kind’s mission. By donating 10% of gross profits to charities that support the animals on our socks, we can continue fighting the fight against species extinction.

Bare Kind has been able to achieve an all-time high of donations in recent years. The business expanded its sock range to 40+ pairs and supports 35+ charities.

Our Charity Impact Reports highlight the projects we have been able to fund with our charity partners and the incredible animals we support.

Our hope is that something as humble as a pair of socks can make a lasting impression on our world and change it for the better. A huge thank you goes out to all our customers who have wanted to make a difference and empower the restoration of our planet with their socks.
