Giraffes are currently facing a silent extinction crisis, with their population numbers plummeting by up to almost 30% in the past 30 years. Namibia's giraffe population was at its lowest in the 1990s and has increased steadily since then. We now estimate it at a minimum of 16,000. The main threats to giraffes include habitat loss, habitat fragmentation, in some parts of Africa, poaching, and very rarely human-wildlife conflict. Giraffes play an important role in their ecosystem as they help to disperse seeds and vegetation across vast areas of land, they are landscape changers and also pollinators.
Giraffe Conservation Foundation is the only organisation in the world that concentrates solely on the conservation and management of giraffes in the wild throughout Africa. Their work focuses on conserving giraffes and their natural habitats.

The Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) is a charity dedicated to the conservation and protection of giraffes in Africa. The GCF works to save giraffes through conservation actions based on the latest available science. Their work involves monitoring giraffe populations, addressing threats to their survival, and collaborating with local communities to promote conservation efforts.
Giraffes are still undergoing a silent extinction, however, thanks to organisations like GCF the tide is slowly turning and their numbers have started to increase in some parts of Africa. The GCF works to address these threats, such as habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict. Through their efforts, the GCF aims to ensure the survival of giraffes and their habitat for future generations.
One of the many programs of GCF is the Khomas Environmental Education Programme (KEEP) in Namibia, which is an environmental education programme for primary school students in Namibia’s capital Windhoek. By involving local communities in the conservation efforts, the GCF ensures that the benefits of conservation are shared and that the people who live alongside giraffes are invested in their protection.
We funded the transport for 150 children to partake in the interactive environment educational KEEP programme in Namibia.

Bare Kind has been able to achieve an all-time high of donations in recent years. The business expanded its sock range to 40+ pairs and supports 25+ charities.
