Pigeons are familiar faces in our towns and cities, but these often-overlooked birds deserve a little more love.

Our pigeon socks support Harper’s Fund at Little Green Pigeon C.I.C., helping provide food, medication and veterinary care for rescued pigeons across the UK.

Pigeon

Getting to know our feathered neighbours

The pigeons we see on UK pavements are usually feral pigeons, descended from domesticated rock doves. Their ancestors nested on rocky cliffs, which helps explain why today’s city pigeons feel so at home on buildings and beneath bridges.

Often dismissed as “vermin”, pigeons are social birds with lives far richer than their reputation suggests. They live in flocks, form pairs and share the work of raising their young. Being a common sight shouldn’t make them any less deserving of kindness.

Pigeons also have a place in the UK’s food webs. They provide food for birds of prey, including peregrine falcons, which now nest on tall buildings as well as natural cliffs. Our towns and cities are ecosystems too, and pigeons are part of the wildlife we share them with.

Life on our streets isn’t always easy

Road accidents, deliberate cruelty and attacks by other animals can leave pigeons injured and in need of help. Discarded thread, string and hair can also become tightly wrapped around their feet, causing painful injuries.

For a rescued pigeon, recovery can mean veterinary treatment, suitable food and a safe place to rest. Behind that care are dedicated rehabilitators and sanctuaries giving vulnerable birds the attention they need.

Every injured pigeon deserves the chance to receive care.

Meet Little Green Pigeon C.I.C.

Little Green Pigeon C.I.C. is a UK not-for-profit Community Interest Company working to create a kinder world for pigeons.

Through fundraising, education and support for pigeon carers, the organisation helps people understand these misunderstood birds. It is also building connections between rehabilitators and helping veterinary professionals develop the knowledge and confidence to treat sick and injured pigeons

Helping rescued pigeons through Harper’s Fund

Our donations go towards Harper’s Fund, which supports the people caring for rescued pigeons across the UK, including home rehabilitators and bird sanctuaries.

The fund helps cover essentials such as food, bedding, medication and veterinary bills. Little Green Pigeon can purchase supplies or settle veterinary fees, helping carers meet the costs of looking after birds in need.

We donate 10% of gross profits from our pigeon socks to Little Green Pigeon C.I.C., supporting Harper’s Fund

Every pair helps support the care of rescued pigeons, turning a little everyday comfort for you into practical help for them.

Our Philosophy

Restoring the biodiversity of our planet and its varied species is at the core of Bare Kind’s mission. By donating 10% of gross profits to charities that support the animals on our socks, we can continue fighting the fight against species extinction.

Bare Kind has been able to achieve an all-time high of donations in recent years. The business expanded its sock range to 40+ pairs and supports 35+ charities.

Our Charity Impact Reports highlight the projects we have been able to fund with our charity partners and the incredible animals we support.

Our hope is that something as humble as a pair of socks can make a lasting impression on our world and change it for the better. A huge thank you goes out to all our customers who have wanted to make a difference and empower the restoration of our planet with their socks.
