Cats often prefer to initiate contact. Instead of picking them up or petting them straight away, consider letting them come to you. You’ll notice they’re much more relaxed and more affectionate when they feel in control.

Cats love comfort. If their 12 to 16-hour sleep isn’t proof enough, I don’t know what else is. 

Whether it’s a sunny windowsill, a soft blanket, or a quiet corner, creating a warm and safe space can make all the difference. 

Try giving their sleeping spot a simple upgrade. For example, adding a new cushion or moving their bed to a brighter spot, can quickly become their new favourite place. 

You know what else cats like? Boxes. Just place one in and watch them make a fort.

Quality time doesn’t always mean constant interaction. For cats, it might look like: 

  • Playing with a feather toy  
  • Brushing their fur  
  • Sitting quietly together while they nap 

Even just being present strengthens your bond.
